 Year 6,

It is amazing how quickly this week has gone! It must be down to all of the hard work this week… You have covered place value up to ten millions in maths and covered various types on nouns, and begun reading Varjak Paw in English. In science, you chose how to classify animals and in history you considered crimes and punishments ready for our new topic.

On to next week, in English we will be exploring the text of Varjak Paw further before writing some description based on the text.

In maths, we will be looking at ordering and comparing numbers and working with negative numbers.

In science, you will be continuing with the topic on living things and their habitats by looking at the formal system for classification.

In history, we will be focussing on Crime and Punishment specifically within the Roman period.

In art we will be learning about the artist David Hockney.

You have been set your English and maths home learning for this week, which many of you have already finished. Remember it must be in on Monday.

I have spoken to you about our half termly home learning project, All About Me today. This project is to be completed over the next few weeks and the focus will be on presenting yourself to the world how you really want everyone to see you. There are many different ways that you may present this –as a poster and/or shoebox, or through a self-portrait but the choice really is yours. This project is an opportunity to share YOU and what makes you tick with your friends, so the more effort you put in, the better the final outcome will be and the more you will get out of this process. Just remember though, I will be disappointed if, after this length of time, you turn up with just a few items that you have grabbed together at the last minute or even just a scribbled note of paper written the night before the deadline. Enjoy the freedom that you have with this though and I really look forward to what you all produce at the end of it. The deadline for completion will be Monday 21^st October, when you will be presenting your completed projects to the class.

Just to remind you all that you have PE on Tuesday, Thursday and Friday so make sure you have your kits in on these days.
