Year 6,
It has been another busy week. This week you have planned a
letter as Siddhartha Gautama writing to his son in English, and in RE you have
learnt about the 4 Noble Truths. In maths, you have added and subtracted, and
found common factors and multiples, also learning some new divisibility rules. In
art, you have applied last year’s learning on shading and pencil grades, to
draw realistic eyes, and in science you classified animals based on characteristics.
In English next week, we will be continuing with Varjak Paw by reading more of the text
before answering comprehension questions and writing your letter.
In maths, we will be looking more at prime, square and cube
numbers, and multiplication.
In science, you will be using characteristics to classify in
a different way.
In history, we will be exploring crime and punishment in the
Anglo-Saxon period.
In computing, we will be continuing our unit of work on networks.
In art, we will be developing the application of shading to
create realistic self-portraits by focussing on noses.
Your homework this weekend is found on pages 14-15 in maths and
8-9 in English.
All About Me project.
This project is to be completed over the next few weeks and the focus
will be on presenting yourself to the world how you really want
everyone to see you. There are many different ways that you may present this
–as a poster and/or shoebox, or through a self-portrait but the choice really
is yours. This project is an opportunity to share YOU and what makes you tick
with your friends, so the more effort you put in, the better the final outcome
will be and the more you will get out of this process. Just remember though, I
will be disappointed if, after this length of time, you turn up with just a few
items that you have grabbed together at the last minute or even just a
scribbled note of paper written the night before the deadline. Enjoy the
freedom that you have with this though and I really look forward to what you
all produce at the end of it. The deadline for completion will be Monday 21st October,
when you will be presenting your completed projects to the class.
