Year 6,
Where has the week gone? This week, in English, you have
worked with ‘being’ verbs and planned an explanation text on how hurricanes are
formed. In maths, you have focused on division, revising short division and
beginning long division – great perseverance with this! In RE, you continued to
consider the elements of the 8-fold-path, and in PSHE you thought about how you
can overcome obstacles to improve your learning.
Next week is the final week of this half term.
In English, you will be writing your explanation text.
In maths, you will be working on problem solving (including
multi-step problems).
In art, you will be drawing your self portraits using the
skills you have developed this half term.
In history, you will be studying crime and punishment in the
early modern period.
In science, you will be finishing your experiments and
drawing conclusions from this.
Your homework this weekend is found on pages 22 and 27 in maths and is
the 3 Parent Consultation questions for English. I expect to see the maths on
Monday (as well as your project) but you have until Wednesday for the English
this week. In case you have lost the sheet, the questions are as follows:
· What have you enjoyed about and learned in Year 6 so far?
· What do you want to achieve this year?
· What do you think that you need to improve in, in order to achieve your goals?
All About Me project.
This project is to be completed over the next few weeks and the focus
will be on presenting yourself to the world how you really want everyone to see
you. There are many different ways that you may present this –as a poster
and/or shoebox, or through a self-portrait but the choice really is yours. This
project is an opportunity to share YOU and what makes you tick with your
friends, so the more effort you put in, the better the final outcome will be
and the more you will get out of this process. Just remember though, I will be
disappointed if, after this length of time, you turn up with just a few items
that you have grabbed together at the last minute or even just a scribbled note
of paper written the night before the deadline. Enjoy the freedom that you have
with this though and I really look forward to what you all produce at the end
of it. The deadline for completion will be Monday 21st October,
when you will be presenting your completed projects to the class.
