28.3.25

Year 6,

What a week! In English you have been writing your own narratives inspired by Paradise Sands. You have also had the opportunity to complete some practice papers. In science, you undertook your electricity investigations and in PSHE you considered things that are resting on your minds and then thought about what you can or can't control, and how you can help yourself. In a separate session, you considered the impacts of different types of drugs. This week you have also had the exciting opportunity to hear from 2 Deputy Lieutenants who spoke about their roles, the king and his roles, and the Commonwealth (Photographs below). On Tuesday, you had a visit from the Fire Brigade who taught you about fire safety and their truck. Yesterday, we visited Christ Church to learn more about Christian values and the importance of Salvation. You completed activities around forgiveness, Easter, The Last Supper and Salvation itself (Photographs below). Today you designed your film proposals in preparation for our visit to Sky Studios Elstree in a few weeks time. Remember that only 3 of those will be taken forward for our trip but I will try to find time after SATs for you to all have a chance to create your own versions in school.

Maths - Page 9 and 10
Grammar - Pages 26 and 27

Next week is the final week of the Spring Term! You will be looking at percentages of amounts and problem solving in maths, and in English you will finish your narratives. In science, you will write up your results and at some point we will organise a vote on the film proposals. On Monday, you will also have the chance to watch the Year 3,4,5 production, and on Wednesday afternoon we have Open Afternoon for parents to see your books from 3pm. On Thursday, you projects are due and you will have a chance to play the games that afternoon.

Half term project - Super spellers!

This half term’s task requires you to become a super speller (and find a way to support others to become one too!) You are required to create a game which will support the class with their spellings. This could focus on the Year 3-4 and Year 5-6 spellings, or a few specific spelling rules. The game MUST come with answers and instructions on how to play.

Your project is due on Thursday 3rd April where you will have a chance to play each other's games in small groups or pairs.

I have sent you home with a booklet containing the spelling rules and year group spellings to support you in this and in any revision you choose to do.
